Set in the tumultuous Warring States period of China, the story follows two close friends, Xin and Piao, who share a dream of becoming legendary generals, despite their humble beginnings as orphaned slaves. Their lives take a turn when they meet a nobleman who offers Piao a significant role in the royal palace of the state of Qin. As they part ways, they vow to one day rise to greatness together. However, chaos erupts in the palace during a violent coup, leading to a heartbreaking reunion where Piao, on his deathbed, inspires Xin to take action. This pivotal moment sets Xin on a path that leads him to cross paths with the young prince of Qin, Zheng Ying. Initially, their relationship is rocky, but they soon become allies, united by their ambitions. Zheng aims to unify the fractured states under Qin's rule, while Xin is determined to ascend the military ranks.
