SLAM DUNK

Hanamichi Sakuragi is a tall, loud teenager with bright red hair and a ton of physical strength, but he’s got a bit of a reputation as a troublemaker. As he starts his first year at Shohoku High, he’s determined to break his long streak of rejection—50 girls have turned him down! All he wants is to find a girlfriend, but his bad-boy image makes it tough for anyone to approach him. By the end of his first day, he’s left with two thoughts: he really dislikes basketball and he desperately needs a girlfriend. Enter Haruko Akagi, who doesn’t know about Hanamichi’s past. She spots him and, impressed by his height, asks if he likes basketball. Caught off guard by a girl talking to him, Hanamichi impulsively says yes, even though he’s not a fan. When Haruko challenges him to show off his skills at the gym, he tries to do a slam dunk. Unfortunately, he miscalculates and ends up hitting his head on the backboard! Haruko is amazed by his athleticism and quickly tells the basketball team captain about him. Suddenly, Hanamichi finds himself in the middle of a basketball competition, all for a girl he barely knows, and he starts to realize that maybe basketball isn’t so bad after all.
