Black Torch

Seventeen-year-old Jirou Azuma leads a pretty chill life with his grandpa, using his unique gift to chat with animals and keep them safe. Both of them come from a long line of shinobi, so they’ve been honing their combat skills to keep their family’s fighting tradition alive. Everything changes for Jirou when he saves a seemingly ordinary black cat named Ragou, only to find out that this cat is actually a mononoke—a spirit that’s been at odds with humans for ages. When a menacing mononoke comes after Ragou, Jirou leaps into action, but he ends up getting seriously hurt in the process. Just when things look grim, Ragou faces a tough choice: he could absorb Jirou’s waning energy to regain his strength, but instead, he decides to share his own energy with Jirou. This not only brings Jirou back to life but also gives him some incredible supernatural abilities that enhance his shinobi skills. This unexpected turn of events catches the attention of Ryousuke Shiba, an officer from the Bureau of Espionage, who specializes in dealing with aggressive mononoke. He offers Jirou and his grandpa a chance to join a new team called Black Torch, where they can fight against powerful mononoke that threaten innocent lives.
