Ichigo Kurosaki is just your average high school kid, except for one little thing—he can see ghosts. This ability hasn’t really changed his day-to-day life until one fateful day when he comes home to find a mysterious girl named Rukia Kuchiki in his room. She’s a Soul Reaper, a kind of guardian for souls, and she’s there to help spirits move on to the afterlife. But things take a wild turn when a Hollow, a malevolent spirit that devours souls, crashes the scene. In a moment of bravery, Ichigo tries to take on the Hollow but ends up in over his head. Rukia jumps in to protect him but gets hurt in the process. To save the day, she proposes a daring plan: she’ll transfer some of her Soul Reaper powers to him. Ichigo agrees, but in a twist, he ends up absorbing all of her powers! Now, he’s a Soul Reaper himself, and with his friends Orihime Inoue and Yasutora Sado—who also discover their own spiritual gifts—Ichigo has to step up to the plate. He’s got a new job: hunting down Hollows and safeguarding both the living and the dead. But as he dives deeper into this supernatural world, he realizes that being a Soul Reaper comes with challenges he never expected.
